Our most popular hardwood import from Brazil. Starting as a dramatic salmon-tan when freshly milled, Brazilian Cherry deepens over time into a rich, dark reddish-brown — a color change unlike any other species. We offer only Premium/A Grade (clear grade) in prefinished, unfinished, and engineered formats.
Premium/A Grade · Clear Grade Only
Brazilian Cherry (Jatobá) is our most popular hardwood flooring import from Brazil. A rich, extremely hard wood, it is a great choice for both residential and commercial installations. We offer only one superior quality grade — Premium/A Grade (clear grade) — ensuring beautiful, consistent color and grain across every plank.
The heartwood ranges from light brown to pink/salmon, with yellowish overtones when freshly milled, deepening over time to a deep, rich reddish-brown through natural oxidation. Black striping adds visual character, and the quartered selection yields the most uniform color range.
All products are Premium/A Grade, clear grade only. Random lengths as noted.

3/4″ Solid · Factory Finished · Micro-beveled four sides
Prefinished Brazilian Cherry is our largest selling item. With the latest milling and finishing technology, we offer prefinished Brazilian Cherry with micro-beveled edges on all four sides. Brazilian Cherry is approximately two and a half times harder than domestic oak, making it an excellent choice for both residential and commercial applications.
3/4″ Solid · Square Edge Available
Unfinished Brazilian Cherry is an outstanding choice for new construction. Many builders insist on square edge material, and unfinished works better in the dirty new-construction environment. We dry our Brazilian Cherry to 7% moisture content and mill it comparably to NOFMA standards — the contractor’s choice.

Brazilian Cherry is an extremely heavy wood with a uniform medium texture and regular to irregular grain. At Brazilian Direct we sell only one grade — clear grade — which takes the guesswork out of buying. Our tongue-and-groove profile always engages properly with minimal overwood.
Brazilian Cherry undergoes one of the most dramatic color transformations of any hardwood species — similar to domestic cherry, but more pronounced. Freshly milled planks present a distinctive salmon/tan color that deepens significantly through oxidation into a deep, rich reddish-brown.
In direct sunlight, the initial color change occurs within days. Out of direct sunlight, the process takes up to six months, with the most noticeable changes happening in the first three months. Oil-based finishes enhance and accelerate the color change, while water-based finishes tend to retard the oxidation process.
Our clear grade Brazilian Cherry has very minimal color and grain variation. Color varies from yellowish hues to pink/reds to dark reds with black striping, the darker streaks giving it an exotic expression. Note that “Brazilian Cherry Lite” is not true Brazilian Cherry — it is a different species, Tauari (Brazilian Oak), which does not darken over time.
