Grading Rules

• WHITE OAK, SELECT: 80% or more heartwood, with a hint of sapwood. Practically free of defects with limited small character marks.
• WHITE OAK, NATURAL: Wide array of color variations produce a natural appearance. Varying natural defects allowed, up to 3/8" dia.
• WHITE OAK, CHARACTER: Wide array of color variations and character produce a natural appearance. All character marks allowed, including knots, which are open up to 1” dia.
• WHITE OAK, RUSTIC: Frequent small, tight and sound defects allowing unlimited small 7/8" or smaller (22 mm) sound knots, burls, twig clusters, bark pockets or worm holes. All boards must grade a full width clear rustic cutting minimum 4’ in length and the board must grade at least 80% rustic on the better face.
