Prefinished Format

3/4" Solid · Factory Finished · Micro-beveled four sides

Prefinished Santos Mahogany is our second largest selling item. Many customers drawn to warmer reddish-salmon tones choose this species as an alternative to our top-selling Brazilian Cherry. Santos Mahogany is nearly two times harder than domestic oak, making it an excellent choice for both residential and commercial applications.

  • 7-step UV finishing system with aluminum oxide
  • Anti-scratch coatings on the final two layers
  • 35% sheen level
  • Micro-beveled edges on all four sides

Unfinished Format

3/4" Solid · Square Edge Available

Unfinished Santos Mahogany is an outstanding choice for new construction. Many builders prefer square edge material and unfinished works better in the dirty new-construction environment. We dry our Santos Mahogany to 7% moisture content and mill it comparably to NOFMA standards — the contractor’s choice.

Santos Mahogany is a rich, dark mahogany-colored wood and a superior choice to genuine mahogany given its hardness and color stability. Our clear grade has very minimal color and grain variation, ensuring a consistent, beautiful floor.

The color range varies between a light orange/brown with yellowish overtones to a dark reddish/purplish brown. The majority of floor pieces display a medium to dark orange/brown mahogany tone.

At Brazilian Direct we sell only one grade of Santos Mahogany — Premium/A Grade. This takes the guesswork out of buying Santos Mahogany. Your floors will have beautiful grain with minimal color variation. Our tongue-and-groove profile will always engage properly with minimal overwood.

Color Change Over Time

A slight color change occurs in Santos Mahogany with a modest muting of the color range over time. This is a natural characteristic of the species and does not detract from its beauty.

Light Orange/Brown
Medium Mahogany
Dark Reddish/Purplish Brown

Santos Mahogany has a medium color range, varying between a light orange/brown with yellowish overtones to a dark reddish/purplish brown. Most pieces of the floor will be a medium to dark orange/brown mahogany tone.

Over time, the color range undergoes a slight muting effect. This natural aging process is common in dense tropical hardwoods and typically results in a richly unified appearance that many homeowners find desirable.

Because we offer only clear/premium grade material, the color variation within your floor will remain minimal compared to select or lower grades, giving you a more consistent look throughout the life of the floor.
